    Motion Controller Recommendation

    Hi all,

Looking for a recommendation on a motion controller. I'm planning to changing a Mach 3 controlled 4'x4' cnc router to better electronics. I was looking at the HiCON Integra or CS Labs CSMIO/IP-M or S. From what I have researched both look to be very good controllers for Mach3 or Mach4. The machine has a dual drive gantry. Any feedback on these controllers would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Jon

CS Labs is generally regarded as the best Mach3 motion controller. Hicon is right up there as well.

    Re: Motion Controller Recommendation

    Hi,

The XHC boards are rubbish with Mach4 and not that much better with Mach3.

If you don't believe me go and do some reading on both the Mach4 AND Mach3 boards in the Mach forum.

CSLabs CSMIO plugin for Mach4 is buggy. The CSMIO has a great reputation when running Mach3 but not so with Mach4. Additionally the company
is supporting an alternative to Mach and seems very unresponsive to bug reports with their Mach4 plugin. I have heard CSLabs customers complain
that they are very slow to respond. A couple of years ago CSLabs support was the best in the business but something or prehaps someone has changed
and they are not a patch on where they used to be.
