Latest Design CRP PRO4896 Build log Awesomeness!!

Hello everyone I am new to CNCZONE.COM but I figured what better way to join by starting a build log featuring my CNC Router Parts Pro4896. So I hope that you enjoy my build log this is probably going to be a lengthy one. Feel free to use this thread to start discussions about all things related to mine or your build I am always looking to see how other people are doing things

First off I want to thank the people over at CNC Router Parts specifically Cory he has been a huge help with making my buying experience pleasant especially because I ask some really retarded/simple aka freak out about weird things lol wethier its through email or phone or skype call Cory he has helped me with everything that I need so far and I am sure its not the last time I will be calling. So if you are interested in a machine from CNC Router Parts give Cory a call.

(I will put his contact info in this thread once I have the okay to do so)

Alright so now to the meat and bones of my build log!!!

So I currently have an X-carve by Inventables and have been using it for about 8 months. Its a good machine but is maintenance heavy and I quoted a job that made me realize something needs to change I need to either go big or go back to a day job because I want to provide my customers with better and better results. So I started to look around for a bigger machine and my dream machine was a 4x8 one. Well I looked for a couple months and 40,000 here 60,000 there 100,000 right there lol everything was just way to expensive for me. So just on a whim I was watching a Youtube video and spotted a machine that looked cool so I sent off a message to the channel owner wanting some more info his machine. Blazingnailgun was the channel and Feddie told me it was a CNC Router Parts Pro4896. Great! so I went over to there website and saw that I could get into a full 4x8 machine for around 10,000 now thats doable!!!

I finally decided to take the plunge after a few more months of fighting with my X-carve and not making any money due to limitations. Go big or go home!! Lets Go big!!

So here is what I ordered all in one day lol (it was an expensive one!!)

I think that is everything lol I kinda just lost track after awhile and just threw my debit card in the air and let everyone have at it and took a nap lol

So with all that stuff coming in its going to be awhile before I am operational I figure 4-6 weeks so hmm what to do? Lets start setting up the shop!!

Going to be alot of work!! Got the Drill press setup though

Drill Press Home? Thats really not enough room but at least I got about 25% of the wood moved off my big rack

On to the dust collector I am surprised that it is so quite. Hopefully I can hide the wiring and piping with those wall panels off!!

Oh yeah we are going up!!! That should work maybe I will take off the Y-Pipe?

Going to need foil tape for these bad boys!!

I am not sure about the placement of the dust collector but I think it will work and make taking out the dust nice a easy!! I am just guessing the exit location as to where I think the machine is going to go in lol

Its all about planning a precision people!!

Oh yeah baby right on the mark!! :withstupi

I will keep updating as progress continues lol

I am looking for ideas on how to mount a computer and screen for running mach3 anyone have any ideas?

You look like to make kitchen cabinet or things like that. You still need to puchase routerbit, dovetail jig, dowelling jig. I just bought the same thing and some were made. I bought some parts from CNC Router Parts and use Leadshine MX4660. I tried to save some money, I made my table saw and router table. Before I have metal working machineshop work on oil and gas parts, then oil price slowed down, I added some tooling for woodworking to make kitchen set, handy craft, etc. Post some pics here of your new CNCRP pro. What you gonna do with your tools.

Well I was going to buy just the diy kit from cnc router parts but decided against it because then i would have to source all my parts like your Leadshine unit and I really dont know what I am doing lol. and yeah you know I am actually pretty new to wood working and cnc machines in general so I am not sure what I am going to make with all my new toys but I am looking at this as an investment in my future as I really want to get into manufacturing and I have a few manufacturing contracts that I am working on now and this new machine will make quick work of those hopefully. I know I have alot to learn but now I have the capability so now I just have to go find the work

but at least the plunge has been taken you know I hope to get into metals alot more and this machine will also allow me to do that

Your machine cncrp and router's stuff all will do for housing such as doors, kitchen set, all kind of box. But your router table and table saw is too small and not heavy duty. You can make the table from steel with 1000 mm L X 600 mm W min with 6 mm thick, then when you do something the table will not vibrate. If you want to do some metal work, you will need cnc lathe and cnc mill. I have Mazak M4 cnc lathe that I retrofited and cnc mill Kuraki, big machine. You can buy the machine depend on your kind of work and dimension. Its a lot more expensive then woodworking. Then you need to purchase cad cam, its expensive too.

Your cncrp controller is complete, its plug and play, you do not need to source anything. When your machine arrive, you can start working. CNCRP is good machine.

CAD/CAM cxan be expensive - yes.
But you don't have to use CAD/CAM if you can program. I use AutoSketch and write my own programs for lathe and 4-axis mill.

Look in bonesbr549 buildlog. In the first 10 posts or so there is a link to the rotary axis he bought. Direct recommendation from Cory at CNCROUTERPARTS. I've ordered one too and it's currently on its way from Hong Kong.

CNC Router Rotational Axis 4th A Axis 4 Jaw Claw 100mm Chuck NEMA 34 Tailstock | eBay
Oh very nice for the link thank you!!!

I am curious and new to this but I like the fact that it has a nema 34 motor on it and includes a tail stock but I am confused about the 100mm part I would like the capacity to chuck a 4x4 post in to the jaw a cut it would this on be capable?

100mm is close to 3" so if by 100mm is the max stock capacity that just might work

    thanks

    101.6mm = 4"
    A 4x4 post is 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", or about 89mm x 89mm

right okay yeah so it thats what I thought it will give me plenty of capacity to work on posts I just saw a really neat video of a guy chucking up a 4x4 post and making some really neat table legs from it

I wonder on another thing though sense the rotary is controlled by a stepper I wonder how fast it will spin couple thousand rpm at least? that seems to me like it would be hard on the motor is you were trying to spin it fast and then stop it suddenly

Most steppers don't spin much more than 1000 rpm. I'd expect a stepper powered rotary axis to be limited to around 300-400rpm at the chuck.

The work need not spin fast like in a lathe. In a lathe you are using a static single tool.
On here, you are using the tool in your spindle. That is where the hogging will come from.

Thats what I was thinking had a brain malfunction!

Here is a spoilboard I made for the machine I guess I might have to change that up a bit.

Although maybe it will work out great as is all i have to do is take out 2 of the inserts and place the rotary table and tail stock in

300 rpm for a cheap Chinese wood-working rotary, with a 3:1 belt reduction between motor and axis. Probably fine for wood working, mind you.

6 rpm for a good metal-working rotary with a 3:1 belt reduction followed by a 50:1 gear reduction.

That's 4" size rotary good to make table leg? I thought that I should have 6" rotary to make them. I have 4" rotary but never try it. Do you guys have a link to this operation with 4" rotary?

    Here's one type.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J9hEr4eAFY

Another that I thought was interesting, but could all be done on a router with a 4th.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_GqvjHhxwI

Or you could make all four legs at once on this machine.

Thanks for the links. I just wondering that rotary is more than 4". If using 4" rotary, can we make it works by making end of woods smaller or less than 4", so that it can be clamped with 4" rotary. Small rotary means small torque.

Re: Latest Design CRP PRO4896 Build log Awesomeness!!

The second video is what I was thinking of with having a high speed motor so i could do exactly that how where you saying it could be done on the 4th axis?

Re: Latest Design CRP PRO4896 Build log Awesomeness!!

While you can turn the 4th with some speed to emulate a lathe, it isn't necessary when using a spindle as the tool. On a wood lathe, the part is turning pretty good against the tool. That rotation and a sharp tool create the shearing action for the wood fibers.

The spindle does all that work when using a 4th axis on a cnc router. No need to rotate the part at speed. The rotation in that case is simply for positioning.

The size of the 4th axis doesn't really limit the size of the part. Depends on the chuck of course, but you could use a spur drive like on a lathe and then chuck up and 8" round provided that the 4th is raised high enough off the bed and you have plenty of Z clearance.
