Your creations are more than milling machines, they are also beautiful works of art and you could command a very nice price for these fine pieces!.

Very thoughtful layout of the lighting in the cabinet. Looking forward to the video test cuts.

When tightening down the linear rails on the aluminum - are these precision ground aluminum plates? May I ask how are you maintaining perpendicular and parallel in all three axis? My understanding is the linear rails and blocks are so precisely fit that because there is almost no play even being off a few microns from one rail to another can lead to grabbing. Your thoughts / experience appreciated.

I use only MIC-6 6061 T6 aluminum plates . Theese are precision ground , very small tolerances in thickness .
Hope to get about 0.025mm work precision ( 1 thousand of an inch ) . For me , that's enough ...

The rails are parallel to each other within 0.01mm , and the 90 degrees angles are controlled within 1 minute of a degree . Again , for me
and for the work precision I want , is quite enough ... Of course , because the structure of the machine is made of aluminum , the main problem
are vibrations ... this will affect the quality of the finish , and the final dimension of the part that's being cut . So , in the end , you can not
expect too much from this kind of DIY machines ...

The important thing here is the journey , not the end result ... paraphrasing of course .

    cheers.

It will be interesting to see the first cuts. In your previous post a while back I recall you mentioning you wanted to make something that could cut aluminum better than your gantry system so a comparison cut / hole / face mill would be interesting to see.

I say in the case of you mills, any shortcomings in precision are iffset by aesthetics.

Many linear rail can withstand up to .005" out-of-parallelism....

Very nice build Katran. It's always nice to see those chips being cut. I'm curious if you have tried cutting any steel materials on your mill. Are those aluminum extrusions stiff enough for that or is this machine just dedicated to doing aluminum or softer materials.

    Best wishes,

    Paul

The machine is dedicated for aluminum molds only ...no steel materials . The aluminum extrusions can not be stiff enough for that ...
    Thanks .

Nice, as always. I do admire your attention to details and the persistence in making such nice looking machines.
Mine end up looking .....not so good!! I am getting better at it, though. Also, mine never break down, so not good for business! (chair)

hello, I interested in your work, you could not share the exact size of aluminum products and the thickness of aluminum, too Thank you
