I am working on a Kitamura Mycenter2 circa 1983. There is a positioning problem with the Y axis when the machine is "cold". I made a test piece where i bored two holes at the end of one day. Then i bored a third hole at the beginning of the next day. The two holes i bored at then end of the one day were accuratly spaced from each other, but the one i did the following morning was .004 from its programmed location in the Y axis. (The X position was perfect). I've tried locating a surface and then running an then moving the table in a looped program for more than an hour to see if I could pick up a change, but the most i got was only .001 when i used rapid movement to warm it up. Feeding an arc produced no change in my zero. The Y axis motor on this machine is not directly connected to the ball screw, there is a shaft that connects the two. This is the only machine we have like that. Does anyone know what the problem may be?
