    Angry Having issues with Fusion 360 Post Processor Format 1 & 2 Problems

    I have been having issues with F360 in Format 2 where it places high feed rates even though "preserve rapid movements" is selected. I always keep my rapid POT set at 25-50% since I'm just prototyping, but since F360 is putting in a 100ipm feed rate it ignores my POT setting. Even limiting the high feed rate moves to F50, my machine stutters and vibrates badly executing the simple moves.... is this a ramping issue? I have read some stuff on the G8, but these are SIMPLE moves not sure why its acting up.

    post processors can be simply edited and amended a good processor to learn about this is the linuxCNC processor as its better documented than many, the processor is a basic interpretation that you can change to suit your machine and working practices as there are far to many variations of machines and practices for anyone to write one processor suitable for all!

    I just got a Fadal and use f360 and format 1 and have the same issues I have yet to figure it out. Seems like sometimes it outputs as true Rapids and sometimes as high feed regardless if preserve Rapids is selected or not.

    One of my biggest issues right now is I use a lot of 3D adaptive toolpaths and seems like every one I've ran it'll either alarm before it starts or part of the way thru with a "helical radius too small" error I have played around with the lead in/out radiuses and it fixes it sometimes if I have it above .02" radius but sometimes that doesn't help. It's about to make me pull my hair out. I can't figure out what is causing it or why. The same toolpaths run perfectly fine on my haas. Have u ever had issues with this?

    Sounds similar to the issue I have in inventor hsm pro, my control software does not support radius's so instead I get lots of small arcs and 1mm straight moves with makes for jerky motion. I've found ticking smoothing with a value of 0.03mm makes for less transitions. Any more and I get more straight moves and less arcs which is also counter productive, but 0.03 seems to produce the smoothest results. Adding smoothing may also increase the radius size during a path.

    There is also a minimum radius value setting within the post process program settings that might be worth playing with.

    Similarly there's also a high feed rate and mapping setting in the pp settings.

    Yeah I've messed with the min radius setting in the post processor and it sometimes works and sometimes it just delays the inevitable to 100 lines down the program. Haven't really messed with the smoothing yet but I figured that would make it worse. It seems to be happening in adaptive clearing toolpaths and I always keep the tool down when possible with a .01" lift for clearance and it just happened again and the line it errored out on looks like a radiused lift move to reposition

    So I selected the smoothing option with a .002" tolerance just to see how it did and it made it well past the line it was getting the error on but about 3min later it errored again and this time it e-stopped with a X and y axis fault motor overload

    Megacanam. Are u selecting preserve Rapids in the toolpaths and the post processor screen?

    Don't use G28 just use G90 G0 X(whatever amount you want) Y (whatever amount you want). Fadal does not require the use of G28 or G91 unless you swapping between G90 and G91.

    This looks like a crash. Almost like your work height is below your work home unless you have already cut that depth. I didn't scan through the code. Fusion is a cheap product

    We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.
