Hi everyone. I am new to the site and am hoping that some experiences users can assist me.
I recently purchased a small Chinese 40 watt laser engraver and hope in the not to distant future purchase a cnc router as well.
I just set up the laser engraver is not too much difficulty and ran a test engraving on a piece of wood. I have had some engraving done for me in the past and each time the actual engraving is not too dark. When I ran my test, the engraving was pretty dark almost like burnt and not very deep . Am I running it too slow or with too much power?

Any recommendations to try?

Probably both its a balancing act, power settings and power output can vary on the lower end lasers try two identical engravings side by6 side at different powers and speeds and move settings towards one improved finish until your happy with result.
