    Question Wood ccond download?

    Struggling along here trying to use BobCAD to make designs for my Digital Wood Carver (cnc router). When I went to setup 'milling stock' I found there is no 'stock material library' for wood.

    Is there a material library (ccond) for wood I can download? Or has someone created one they'd share with me?

    I also have a DWC. I always used ABS Plastic for the stock and seemed to work well when cutting wood.

    Re: Wood ccond download?

    Hello twoclones;

    There are other posts out there about this topic...

    Problem is not all woods should have the same feed/ speeds, etc.

    Moisture content, "oiliness", grain, knots, tendency to chip, splinter and such, with grain routing/ cross grain routing - all have an important impact on cutting parameters.

    To summarize other posts I have seen, grab a piece of scrap that is same wood you plan to route, figure out appropriate parameters, start with a plastic or such as a material (as Ronnie suggests), and modify speeds, etc. to fit.

    I do find sharp tools are nice, high RPM is nice, higher RPM is nicer. Regardless of feeds and speeds, I also try and not make deep cuts, as many woods behave poorly when chips get wedged between the tool and the sidewall of a project.

    I use HSM Advisor for feeds & speeds rather than use materials or feeds & speeds from withing BCC.
