Has anyone gotten the email about F360 for $25 as an Amazon Prime deal? What do I get over a freebie license for that, does anyone know?

It's web based, so I wouldn't think there would be a technical problem with it. Legal wise I wouldn't know though.

I also received the email, but I already have a paid subscription.

Fusion 360 is not web based, although they are working on a browser based version.

It installs locally on your PC, but it requires syncing with the cloud.

Functionally there is no difference. The difference between the free version and paid versions is that the free version can only be used by hobbyists or businesses making less than $100k a year. Obviously there's no way for them to know whether you are a hobbyist or how much your business makes, so it's an honor system kind of deal.

You can turn off "auto" subscription. So it really is $25 per 12 months.

If you have no intentions of subscribing beyond the one year, then there's really no real reason to pay the $25

I went ahead and bought it... it says it renews at $25 a year to, so I think it's locked in at that price. I thought there was tech support included with the license (at least via email.) and none with the hobbyist level.

For me mostly it is a matter of not feeling the rug could be yanked out at any moment. As a licensed user now I can use/learn the software without thinking "Gee, this is cool.... but what happens when they pull the free use-license and I have to learn something else or cough up hundreds?". I haven't invested much time in to learning the software yet because of that.

This way, $25 puts me in the "pool" of subscribers, with paid licenses that they will be... well, not forced to but at least financially incentivized not to just drop.

Plus, this way I don't have to worry if my hobbyist/quasi-commercial use is an issue or not.... have the license, I'm good. LOL.
