    ST10 with manual chuck

So for a particular application I am going to put a manual chuck on the ST10. Now it will alarm if you don't have the chuck closed.
I have never had the chuck off before so not sure if I can block off the lines so I can "close chuck" to fool the control..or is there a way to disable it through the control?

Can you put a manual chuck into the hydraulic chuck?

    Re: ST10 with manual chuck

Old thread but just in case this ever comes up again, Yes.

You can remove your hyd. chuck, unscrew the drawtube if it doesn't clear. I prefer unscrewing it so I don't damage it or get coolant and swarf between the spindle and tube.
I made a round plug with o-ring to push into the spindle to keep trash out. Bolt up manual chuck and go. Haas recommends keeping the hyd. chuck commanded in the close position so hydraulic pressure will also help keep trash and coolant out of the hyd. system, plus the lathe won't run unless it is.
