Hi All,

We have recently acquired an XYZ Compact Turn 52 lathe, and all has been going well. The tool probe was working beautifully until one day I went to set up the tools as normal and the probe arm would not operate.

After speaking to XYZ I have confirmed the following:

-Machine axes are traversed to soft limits in X & Z
-Chuck Sensors are properly set
-Chuck is on outside mode
-Chuck is closed
-No physical obstruction to the tool probe.
-Interlock is engaged

If I were to try and activate the probe before, the control would throw up an alarm such as "Chuck Open, Tool Probe disabled" etc. etc. etc. if the conditions were not met. Now I get no errors, and nothing to tell me why the tool probe is not moving, or anything to even register that I have pressed the button (previously the green light above the button would illuminated).

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I don't think it a controlled axis, as it is just operated by an M code. I have downloaded every manual for this machine that I can find, but coming from a background in Fanuc this is all Greek to me!

Is it likely to be a defective unit?
