    Codes for manual tool changes

    Hi All

My first post in the WinCNC section of CNC zone.

I used a friend of mines Shop Sabre 7214 router today with WinCNC, I went armed with NC code produced in BobCAD V28 using the Shopsabre post supplied by BobCAD.

As soon as the control got to the line no 6 with T1 in it stopped and said missing file. I got over the problem by manually editing T1 out and then doing a seperate NC file for where tool 2 was called up.

I dont like not understanding this. I had hoped to do a manual tool change and set T2 onto top of stock as per T1.

    G0 X0 Y0

    G4 X4
    M50

So I downloaded a post file from WinCNC to use with BobCAD and that turned out the following code which never called up a tool as far as I can see, does not even look like it has started the spindle!!

    [ PROGRAM NUMBER: 100 ]
[ PROGRAM NAME: VAC BED TOP WINCNC.NC ]
    [ POST: WINCNC ]
    [ DATE: TUE. 07/19/2016 ]
    [ TIME: 02:23PM ]
    [12.2mm MDF]
    [Grid will cut 3.5mm deep]
[Circular hole will not break free to save damaging cutter]
[Outer will be done in two passes with a tab at either end]
    [ T1ENDMILL ROUGH , DIAMETER = 3. , LENGTH = 45. ]
    [ T2ENDMILL ROUGH , DIAMETER = 6. , LENGTH = 60. ]
    N01 G90
    N02 G53
    N03 G54
[Machine Setup - 1 Profile Rough]
    [GRID 1]
    N04 G00 X63.75 Y335.
    N05 Z5.
    N06 Z2.5
    N07 G01 Z-3.5 F500.
    N08 Y55. F2000.

So my question is how do you do a manual tool change with the WinCNC control ie what code do you use, for the life of me I have not been able to find the info.

Once I know what is required in terms of code then I will edit the BobCAD post to get the correct code.

    Many Thanks

    Barrie

Re: Codes for manual tool changes

The machine could be setup as a single tool machine. To determine if this is true, open the CNC.MAC file in a text editor and see if or which macro is assigned to T1,2,3,4,etc.
Single tool machines will not have a macro assigned to tool numbers, manual or ATC will.
Assuming there is a macro assigned, verify that that macro actually exists in the location specified.
