DIY 3 Axis CNC Foam Router Milling Machine

After years of research on the Internet, posting on forums, speaking to manufacturers and resellers, and simply overthinking the entire process, I decided to pull the trigger and have a custom machine designed by a professional. In mid-2015, I invested into having an experienced mechanical engineer to build a machine that measures approximately 3m x 2m x 1m. This service included stress tests and simulation analysis.

There are many components to the machine that include, but not limited:

    - Custom CNC Cut steel profiles for mounts and brackets (25+ pieces)

    - Custom Cut Aluminum Plates (10+ pieces)

    - Custom Cut to Length Ballscrews (4 pieces)

    - 13Nm NEMA Stepper Motors (4 pieces)

    - Custom Cut Steel for all axes

    - Custom Cut Hiwin Rails and Bearings

    - Leveling Feet

    - All Screws, Washers, & Bolts

    - Motor Mounts

    - Limit Stops

    - Pre Loaded Desktop Computer & Monitor

    - Mach3 License

    - 2.2kW Air Cooled Spindle

    - Breakout Board

    - All Wiring

    - Steel Base Frame (40+ pieces)

Steel Y Axis Frame (22 pieces)

All that is left is the acquisition of the steppers, rails, bearings, wiring, breakout board, and spindle. Then assembly and calibration.

If anybody wants the 3D CAD file for this machine, shoot me a PM.

Not really a DIY if a professional shop custom makes one for you.

What professional shop? I did not see ANYWHERE where a "professional shop" did ANYTHING. It was "DESIGNED" in Autodesk Inventor by a mechanical engineer in Greece, he didn't build the damned thing.

The guys in the video are a transport service off of uship.com.

Guess I have to mill the ballscrews and Hiwin rails by hand, too, to make this qualify as DIY.

How and WHY did you move the thread? How is this NOT a DIY build? If this is a commercial build, please give me the name and website of the company so that I can friggin buy one instead of finishing this beast.

You paid to have a machine designed by a professional. Then you had an experienced ME build your machine. Your words.

I'm not here to bicker as I thought that I was giving back to the cnczone community showing what the information on this site encouraged me to do. Please delete this thread as I do not agree that it should be in rated as a Commercial Wood Router. That is inaccurate and by definition, you are absolutely and intently wrong.

Can not see the video, marked private. But it seems to me 'commerical' is something that is available for everyone to buy. If this is not a machine anyone can go out and buy (ie. commercially available) then it is not a commercial machine. my 2 cents.

Thanks for your comment, Arbo. I marked the video private until the moderator moves it back to it's correct category and once he stops being hateful in his responses and PMs.
