    Yaskawa CACR-SR

I have the Yaskawa CACR-SR 15 E servo drives on my CNC.
One of them blew a few bits up and I have had it repaired.
Problem is when I power up the CNC it comes up with an A02 error which according to the book is " missing parameter".

Can anyone help as to how the heck I can reset the parameters, or indeed how this thing should be set up.
CNC is a SCM Record 2CE this is on the X axis
    Help, help, help

    I'm Mad At Yaskawa!

I sent in a drive to be repaired, they sent it back "repaired they said".
had serious problems on that axis with the "repaired drive".
called them and they said "we checked everything it's good".
swapped the drive to another axis and the problem followed the drive.
called yaskawa again they said "everything is good with that drive".
called them again hopeing to get someone with some common sense,
and that guy said send the drive back.
sent the drive back, got it back. SAME THING!!!
called yaskawa again they said "they checked everything, and even checked it under temp extremes".
called them again, finally got someone who knew something "WHEW! i thought" he told me about a parameter that is protected and you have
to do some keystrokes in a certain order to access and change.
he told me the strokes and the correct setting and also told me
    not to tell anyone this.
    changed it, NO JOY!!!!!!!
well needless to say the owner is getting pretty upset by now.

soooooo. we got another repaired drive from another supplier, plugged
in the correct settings, "including the HIDDEN ONE" wallah machine
    runs perfect.

    (nuts) to yaskawa.

oh yeah your gonna have to call them

I must ask at this point, Riverrat, what is the parameter, where is it located-drive or controller, how do I access it?

    Thanks

its in the drive and it depends on the drive.
the ones i've dealt with you have to have an interface, which is
simply a hand held keypad that plugs into the drive.
to access the locked out parameter you have to do a certain
keystroke on the keypad, i wrote it down and it is at work.
why ya askin, got a yaskawa drive that you sent in?
    orrrrrr, ya think i'm fibbin.

Just tryin to break into the yaskawa line of servo's and started with CACR's. I hate tricks like that but seems many incorporate it to generate revenue.

off of the top of my head i believe the one on one of our ez paths is the sdgb, sgdb line, one or the other
on that. the keystroke, from memory again is "on the digital operator"
down arrow three times, up arrow two times, enter two times.
then you can acces param. cn6a.
that might be a little off if you need it correctly i will copy the procedure
and let you know for sure tomorrow.

    i was close.
    it's
depress hold jog and keep it depressed
    bb, base block
    down arrow three times
    up arrow two times
    data enter two times
    param
    that unlocks param cn6a
on our ez-path II the setting they changed was 842A, they changed it to
840A, it has an SGDB-O5AD drive.
all of the "user accesable" parameters they changed back to the
    original setting.

that little hidden setting really peed me off, now if it has a yaskawa
drive in it, they can keep it.

The Yaskawa drives I have been playing with are the CACR-pr & CACR-sr. I think the parameters in these are only configurable with jumpers. The only thing I can't get them to do is accept a incremental encoder other than 1000ppr or 1500 ppr. Maybe if I stay with these old school drives I can stay away from that hornets nest you experienced. Only problem is I have to get matching motor-encoders to use them.

I've only seen this issue with the Bridgeport machines. From what I understand, the Bridgeport controller can not see the encoder C-Pulse being sent from the drive. So changing this param tells the SGDB drive to send a wider pulse so that the controller can see it.

All other controls (that I have seen) read this pulse fine...without the hidden parameter adjustment.

    Hope this helps...

Not true, it is locked out for a reason, and they are not a secret, they are there only if you are a programmer and have been working with and trained in the use of the control software, if you go in there and change any parameters, without knowing what each one does, you will be in a worse mess, which I suspect what happened to riverrats Drive, there is normally no reason to unlock the hidden code, unless someone has gone in there and messed it up

So if you know the drive, or what you are doing and working on all the normal Parameters that you have access to are all related to the hidden software Parameters, so everything that needs to be set Parameter wise anyone who wants to can play and see what works and what does not, this is where most get messed up, but there is always a RESET CODE that will change all the messed up Parameters back to the DFAULT

Not sure why you would be wanting to mess with any old CACR's, they are so out dated that there would be very few that are as old as the drives that are still around that could help you with them , there is still some out there on old machines, and some so called " Repaired " drives available at a crazy price

You are dealing with drives that are more than 30 years old, somebody messed with your drive Parameters to start with, its very easy if you know what you are doing, please find some other manufactures drives that are still running after this many years
