    Squaring a slaved Gantry machine

First, thanks to all who contribute. I rely on this site a lot. I'm finishing my second build which is a gantry style machine. I have X and A slaved and Y is perpendicular to X&A. Mechanical homing switches are installed on all axes. Basically the gantry plate on each side contacts and opens the limit switches at the axis ends. I secured a piece of wood to the table and trimmed it so as to get a line parallel to the x-axis. I then mounted a piece of aluminum perpendicular to that. Perpendicular as close as I need, at least. I have been homing and adjusting to that by trial and error with a little algebra to aid my guesses.

I have been shimming the plates so a to cause the Y-axis to get as close to perpendicular as possible. But I was wondering, Can I use Mach3 to automatically make this adjustment? In other words, instead of physically shimming X or A by, say, .035", I would cause the machine to move either X or A by 0.035 before it sets the x-axis Machine coordinate to zero?

    Thanks to all.

You just need to adjust your switches so they square the gantry, and the gantry will square itself when homing.

There's no way to have one side move a certain amount, though.
