Question OSAI Series 10 Controllr - Create New M Codes?

    Hi Everyone,

At work we have two CMS Machines both that use OSAI Series 10 Controllers and both that use PowerCAM software. On our smaller machine we have just had a set of Safety gates fitted to the front, that are pneumatically operated, the supplier of the gates is expecting us to have a separate button control box in order to operate the gates manually when running the machine. In an ideal world i would like to operate these gates using M Codes from the OSAI controller, i can then add these M Codes to the PowerCAM header file so that they close and open at the start and end of the program automatically, avoiding any extra input needed from the operator and also eliminating any chance of accidents occurring.

Is anyone experienced enough with OSAI controllers to be able to point me in the right direction?? The controllers appear to have very little documentation regarding matters similar to these and the instruction manuals are more of a Menu Map than anything else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Alex Doran

You can create M codes as part programs, and if you have the ASSET option you can write to outputs, and read inputs. You will need to change the AMP to manage this, but no changes to the PLC would be required. Your best bet would be to contact [email protected].
The PLC on the CMS machines is not straightforward to change.
