    rapidturn tolerance limits

The allowable spindle runout seems high to me, 0.01mm. Just me or is that a lot? I mean for a lathe spindle it seems like a lot.

But what I'm more concerned about is radius tolerance. Since the lathe X axis is the mill Z axis, you are limited to the mill Z tolerance. I can't quite divine what that figure is for a 770, but the Z lost motion allowance is .035mm - wow. And the duality whitepaper is clear that you aren't going to get .001" tolerance out of the duality. I imagine the same applies for the rapidturn, since the mill Z limits are the same.

    Re: rapidturn tolerance limits

    Hi Ti02

0.01mm spindle run out is the max, does not sound too bad. That less than half a thou. Still I would hope it is usually much better than that.

Re Z....I was worrying about that also - but lost motion in this situation is not usually an issue. As long as the lost motion is consistent and repeats, much more accurate work can be done.

Repeat accuracy of the Z is probably more like 0.005mm
