Hi all, new here - and just purchased our first CNC - a Bridgeport Interact series 1 with TNC145 control...

I haven't picked it up yet, but would like some info from anyone with experience of them. I understand the controller will not allow 3 axis movement, is this correct? If so, can planes be selected to allow contouring at 0 degrees?
I intend to machine rudimentary surfaces using Mastercam, but if it struggles can I fit a more advanced controller?

Not much help with that one, so will have to learn by doing I guess.
One problem I am encountering though is the rs232 cable link - Is there an adaptor plug available that I could use with a standard USB connector? It's looking like I may have to purchase a laptop with a 25 pin rs232 port unless I can find something that will work.
Has anyone on here found something they can recommend? Thanks in advance...

Hi there, I have a series 1 Bridgeport with a 145tnc , I use rs232 cable and got a cheap adaptor from eBay to use it with a use . It works fine like that using the hiedenhain software to transfer it. Some where I have the cable configureration from what I remember 2 pins have to brige together .

I have ordered a usb/rs232 cable and have found this. Does the configuration look familiar?

Hi Chris,

i've just tried looking for the email i had with the settings but i cant find it but im sure i have it printed out some where, i'm sure the board is wrong i think it should be 2400.
i will keep looking to see if i can find the print out.
