    Milltronics Partner 1 Series H - Can 45 degree pull-studs be used?

Now that I have my spindle running, I am now at a point to load up the tool-changer when I came across the documentation that the pull-studs for this spindle requires a CAT40 60 degree angle :-(

Does anyone know if this machine will work (or hurt the machine) using the regular 45 degree angle on the pull-stud (retention knob)? (60 degree retention knobs will take a couple weeks and I do currently have 45 degree ones)

The tech at Milltronics wasn't confident enough but was skeptical that you could since a bearing style drawbar was used inside the spindle with these machines.

Thanks again for all the help!

    Sam.

Guess I was in a hurry to get the "buy" info out there.

The reason why 60deg is: the size of the balls in the ball lock cylinder dictates a 60 deg angle. 45 deg does not provide enough surface area.

I guess while you are at it, check the drawbar pressure. (draw bar dyno is best) but in a "pinch" put a 20" pry bar between the tool and the spindle nose, you should not be able to move the tool unless you really reaf down on it.

New drawbar washers will provide ~ 900lbs of pull

I stock D bar washer kits.
