Ball Screw Lifespan - Chinese cheapo's

    Hi,

I'm looking into a DIY machine, and a X2 machine retrofit to ball screws. Locally obtaining ball screws is impractical - so that leaves ordering in, probably Taiwan or CHinese parts. My biggest concern is the lifespan of these parts - no point saving money now, just to have to tear the machine apart when they fail pre-maturely. One thing I haven't seen at all is the longevity of these components. People buy, and in general are happy with how they are, but what I'm more curious about if what happens when you have had your machine for a year, or two years or ,etc. How do these chinese ball screws do after 5 years? Can I expect them to even hold up that long?

I have used Taiwanese (Hiwin) machined, not rolled B.S.'s and found them excellent value, but very hard, I had to use ceramic tooling to turn the ends down on the one's I used.
