I have a PCU 50.3. I realize they are pretty low in spec in terms of RAM and processor etc... But when i load a program, i want to view it in the editor on the 840d to make a few quick checks before i run it. However, on some of my bigger programs (17MB), i get an error that the program is too big for editor. Is there something i can adjust or do to be able to see programs as large as this or is this simply a memory issue within the computer itself?

U can adjust memory allocation, but this is moreless service procedure, so it's not supposed to be done by operator. And without data backup first.
Anyhow it's not worth of risk cause large programs are anoyingly slow during edition.

Are you talking about the page file (virtual memory) through Windows XP or is there a setting to adjust the amount of memory allocated to the editor. All they really need to do is check a few lines to verify the program is correct. How can i do this if i absolutely needed to?

No. Memory in siemens nc system is organised in few parts (like partitions in windows). One of them is for program storage, editing and simulation, othwr is for speciak functions other for nc data and so on. It is not like changing files on one disk.
If You check only few lines, You can remove lines that You don't change anyway. From external drive You can operate with large programs, You just can't edit or simulate them, cause it requires loading program into memory.
