    Citizen L16 Custom Parameter Issues

We recently updated a Post Processor for Partmaker to output programs to our swiss department, for the L16 machines with Mitsubishi Meldas 320L control. Everything appeared to output properly, but after loading the program we found that the cutoff speed was drastically reduced. Cutting off a .625" bar took 5:34 on 200% override. After doing some research, it appears that the Post spit out some extra info in the $0 (MC-Data) portion of the program that we don't normally deal with. Below is the code it output.

    $0
    A
    *#814=0000006250
    *#815=0000000500
    *#816=0000011000
    *#817=0004000000
    #822=0000000020
    #824=-000002150
    *#818=0000018440
    *#819=0000001000
    #820=0000000000
    #821=0000010000
    #990=0000032000
    #991=0000051000
    #992=0000061000
    #893=0000000000
    %
    (#814=STOCK DIAMETER=0.625)
    (#815=POSITIONING POINT=.05)
    (#816=CUTOFF TOOL=11)
    (#817=CUTOFF RPM=4000)
    (#822=CUT OFF FEED=0.002)
    (#824=CUTOFF END POINT=-0.215)
    (#818=PART LENGTH=1.844)
    (#819=PARTS PER 1/CHUCK=1)
    (#820=PIPE ID / TUBE ID=0.)
    (#821=BACK SPL LENGTH=-1.0)
    (HOLDER GTF###=516)

The lines with * are what we normally have in the program, and what the machine will output when saving a program back to the server. It seems obvious that #822 would be the issue, but we have changed it to drastically different numbers to try to get it to change the cutoff feed with no luck. The last four, #990 - #893, are not explained in the post processor and are not accessible on the controller. I have no manuals that explain or define ANY of these parameters, so I cant even comfortably play with other parameters to get things working right. Does anyone have a parameter manual or list for this machine that explains what these are? Anyone ever had a similar issue that they remember solving?

    Thanks!

Re: Citizen L16 Custom Parameter Issues

I had our tech support guys take a look at this and they don't think the $0 parameters above have anything to do with the cutoff feed rate. They explained that most of the undefined parameters relate to the L5 version of this machine and do not even exist on the L3 version. They seem to think that the cutoff macro got corrupted somehow, but that seems like too much of a coincidence, considering this happened just as we input this new program. They want to send someone to our facility to reload the cutoff macro. Does anyone know how to output or alter existing macro's on the machine? I'm guessing they reside on the controller under some hidden program number (like most CNC machines) but have no idea where to even start looking for them.

#990, #991, & #992 = tool configuration for a newer L20. Looks like you need to see if you have the correct machine type chosen in PartMaker.

Does anyone know how to access the hidden macro programs on the Meldas 320 controller? I want to open the cutoff macro to see if something did, in fact, get changed but I'm not sure how to view or output them.

Have you tried contacting Citizen for this procedure? That would be a quick and easy solution.

They are looking into it, but every email I send takes a day for them to reply. Often times users on here have the answer in hours! I've been able to avoid using the machine for the time being, but I really need it up and running ASAP and a reply every 24 hours isn't cutting it.

Re: Citizen L16 Custom Parameter Issues

Hello Japazo, do you find something regarding the custom variables? i have a problem when setting up the machine, i load the program but when i try to do the cutoff the spindle doesnt spin, i believe is because the variable of the cutoff tool is wrong, on my machine Variable #816 is tool pattern and not cutoff tool, do you find something about parameters on this machine?

    Thanks
