    eccentric turning

i have seen the you tube videos from citizens turning a eccentric shaft but is it possible to turn a hex doing the same type of programming
I am running a citizen A-32-7 mitsubishi control with no live tooling on the sub the only live tooling that i can use is the 4 rotary's from the main tooling arm of the machine
max degrees per minute would be 22000 or about 60 rpm on the sub c axis

Why not just mill the hex with the main tools on the sub spindle? you just dont want to sacrifice the cycle time?

    Re: eccentric turning

i figure the cycle time on the front is going to be about 3 1/2 minutes with out the hex being milled with no machining on the sub spindle
this would keep the cycle time to the 3 1/2 minutes instead of increasing it to mill it with the main spindle rotary tools

The short answer is, Yes. Use Polar Milling G12.1 and a top notch groove tool. The problem you may run into is Tool Life and C axis actually can stroke out. Let me knw if you need any more info
