Some CAM products allow a file/storage/window to allow entering and to retain Pre-amble and Post-amble Gcode that is combined with the Gcode file produced.

Can Cambam do this ?

You can insert your code into the "Header" and "Footer" fields in the post-processor settings, would that work?

Launched a trial (free) version of Canbam, chased down the Post-processor and found the fields you describe.

My local mens shed has an Arduino router and one of the guys uses Cambam.
We are slowly getting on top of all aspects of the machine.
My question was to assist in getting our jobs to include post-amble code to move the machine to a safe zone to allow safe change of jobs.

You are welcome. Keep in mind that you can define the {$clearance} macro instead of inserting straight g-code into the footer. That way you can redefine it later on a per part basis if necessary.

A real easy way is to just write in G0 X0 Y0 after the G0 Z height command at the beginning and end of the G-code program that come from CAMBAM.

If you need to do it just for one part, sure, you can simply open the G-code file and insert the necessary commands. If you need it more than once, makes more sense to use macros.

Citizen is correct on both counts [one-time and many-times].

Often by writing directly in the G-code file, a user gets a better sense of G-code and where to insert headers and footers.

I finally got a firm grasp, to the extent possible!, by writing G-code files by hand. Though time consuming, it really made me think about what CAMBAM generated files were doing, as well as allowing me to proof the files before they ran. After writing by hand, I broke a lot less router bits.
