    G0704 Spindle Drive Belt Options

I'm starting a Grizz G0704 build. Have a 56C face motor and will be driving the spindle through the splined shaft. Because of the availability of belts and sheaves, I would prefer to use timing belts but have heard they are real noisy. Small 3L pulleys seem hard to come by unless you make them yourself, which is a option. Want to stay with aluminum and don't want the Precision 3L setup!

Are there any other places to look? Are the timing belt drives really a poor choice? I've seen small ribbed belt drives but don't know where to access small belts or pulleys.

Thanks, and I again apologize as I did not do a search so these questions may all have been answered

This question was also posted in a incorrect forum. I requested the moderator move it but that hasn't happen yet.

I use HTD belts and they are not significantly noisy - at low speeds ie lathe.
Servo (2.5 kW) 3000 rpm, spindle 1000 rpm.
    HTD8-30.
But it is an industrial class system.

Less noise than stock system with stock 1.5 kW AC motor.

Noise goes up with speed ..
    And down with better profiles.
So a newer GT style belt is likely a bit less noisy .. but more expensive.

L is an imperial older profile ... probably works fine.

Interesting, I'll take a look at those belts although I will add that I have used the HTD style before and they are pretty big..I think way too big for my little application. The tooth profile is also something that would be a bit more difficult to reproduce if one had to make the pulleys, which I'm sure I would have to do.
