Hello!
We have an Okuma ES L8 turning centre that has been giving us some problems. For the past year or so we have been experiencing error code 1163-11 MCS Encoder Error X Axis FF000400 when the machine was rapiding in Z travel. The problem was annoying, but happened rarely enough as to not be a huge problem (we would have to reset and run the program again, and minimize excessive Z travel).
About a month ago the machine crashed entirely and the problem was thought to be the servo motor and ball screw. We repaired the servo motor, and our technician suggested the ball screw would continue to function even in its diminished state. The machine "runs" again, but we not get the following two errors intermittently, but frequently:
1163-11 MCS Encoder-link Error X Axis FF000400
1164-11 MCS Encoder error X Axis 800E03D9
These errors are happening intermittently but frequently enough to make it impossible to run the machine through an entire cycle. Has anybody had any experience with this sort of situation?
Any suggestions on troubleshooting we could try would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Les
