Centurion 5 vs. Centurion 6 and validation codes

Hi everyone, I'm a new poster here though a long time lurker.

For the last year or two I've been programming and running a Partner III and an RW-12, both with the Centurion 6 control. I'm now looking at machines for my home shop and I am wondering what the main difference is between the Centurion 5 and Centurion 6 controls. Is the extra cost of a machine with the Cent. 6 or Cent. 7 control worth while for someone who programs almost exclusively by hand and with CAM software?

Finally, is the validation code the same in the Cent. 5 as the Cent. 6? I'd like to check the backlash before I buy a machine but this could be hard if I can't get into the params
    Thanks for any help!
    Mike

What I have heard through the grapevine is that the Centurion 5 and possibly 6's are on their way to obsolete due to availability of some chips on the control boards being phased out by the chip manufacturers. Most development has been frozen for the Centurion 7, since the internal resources are now being devoted to the new platform of the Centurion 8.

I think they are the same. see my post in "fast jog & repeat questions. If you change some of these they can mess things up!!! Most of them won't but some can!!!
