The EZ DM3000 'kit' is FANTASTIC. I have zero CNC experience. I came across a new un-used 1999 DM3000 at a school district sale. Did some web searching and came across Big Chips review of Turbina's box and programming files. Installed Mach3, replaced files with Turbina's files, and the lathe is fully operational with Mach3. The DM3000 is a great addition to my personal race car restoration hobby. AND Turbina's Tool Changer Macro works great too. With no prior experience, I can cut, paste and chain several Mach wizards together, and after deleting redundant code and setting up tool offsets, I have made parts using 4 tools without any stoppage. Having fun too.
Only thing missing is a source for boring bar holders and inserts. a bar feeder would be nice too.
Is the tool changer bidirectional as it was originally? I havent seen anyone disengage the pawl and spin the other way. Most if not all macros I have seen over rotate and then back up against the stop. There is nothing wrong with it I am just curious. Unfortunately I bastardized mine before Turbina came along ;-)
A lazy man does it twice.
Do you still have the Dyna 3000 kits for sale, Thanks Dan
Yes, kit is available
Initially I wanted to do it bi-directionally but to avoid a possible rotation error I concentrated on the clockwise rotation only, now years later since I never make errors I will also add the anti-clockwise rotation, I still have to test it for an adequate period that is free from errors.
I also found that by activating the "Tool Selections Persistent" checkbox in General Config, mach3 keeps the last selected tool in memory even with the machine off and I recommend it.
Turbina, thanks for the reply and good work for those who can use it.
I no longer use Mach but would enjoy seeing anyone implement the bidirectional macro as we know it must work.
I have seen a few people fix and adapt the DM3000 very well but no one has shown a bidirectional tool change.
