    Thread milling multiple holes

I'm using Bobcad V23 and I'm trying to use a single point thread milling tool. I want to thread multiple 8-32 holes but can't find any way to select more than one. It will make the path for one hole fine but I have 24 holes that need to be threaded. It seems odd that you can only select one hole instead of all of them.
Does anyone know how this can be done or is it maybe a limitation on V23?

    Thanks.

    Leharker,

In BobCAD-CAM V23, threadmilling is only supported one hole at a time. If you were to upgrade to the newer version, you would be able to find support for threadmilling multiple holes in one operation.

I'm assuming that you're asking why do this with a small size thread rather than just using a a tap. I have three plates to mill that will each have 24 - #8-32 threaded holes to make and I had just recently learned of the possibility of using a thread mill. In retrospect, I think it will be just as easy to put a hand tap in a hand drill to do the threading. Our mill doesn't have the tight control to make using a spiral tap possible.
Thanks for the answer from SeanDa. I had assumed this might be the case but just checking with those more experienced.

    Definitely tap inmo

You can make a guide out of some 1018 rectangular stock (say,,2x2x1/2thick)
That way you can use a spiral point tap (assuming your plate is not too thick vs. length of tap)
Then you can go to town with hand drill confident that you are pepindicular

I never heard or seen a single point thread that small,,,maybe???,,,if there is,,it will cost

Thread milling is cool,,but it is not very fast or efficient for smaller sizes

For odd size pitches and larger diameters,,,it shines

Oh threadmills can go pretty small,
    2-56 Carbide Thread Mill Uncoated
    As an example.
I disagree about the speed or efficiency vs a tap, when you can create a thread gage perfect hole with a single helix that you can adjust via radius comp. Also if (When?) you break the tool in the hole, the cutter can be easily removed.
To each his own, I prefer thread-milling any day to tapping but me and tapping seem to have a tough relationship!

Might want to create a subroutine, if your control supports it. Go to location, run sub that thread mills, rapid to new location, repeat......
