I don't think they have Black Friday in the UK.
And I don't think I've ever seen Vectric offer discounts.
Although 3rd party resellers often have slightly discounted prices, especially if bundled with something else.

Have you looked at Fusion360? Free for personal use and businesses under $100,000 annual sales. Has built-in CAM and parametric capabilities. Some features better than VCarve and of course VCarve is better at some things. Just thought I'd bring it up for you to look at. There are some good tutorials out there on the Fusion site as well as on YouTube.

If you do lot's of signs, fusion is not there yet. If you want to machine mesh you have to convert it first before you can machine it, there is a limit to 5 Axis. No nesting yet that may be in before xmas more than likely not. other than this fusion is good to go
I have keeped my copy of Vcarve pro and still use it, only for signs and lettering and for working on dxf before I take them into fusion.

The one thing vectric has over fusion is if you are new to cad/cam (never used cad/cam before) Vcarve pro you can make something fancy in a hour or 2. fusion a bit longer

    I agree with Daniel.
Fusion does replace Cut 2D and 3D, but not quite ready to replace Vcarve. It is progressing and may get there one day, but Vcarve is mature now and very easy to learn. I have to relearn it every time I use it. Every couple years, but that just takes a few minutes to pick it back up.
No reason that you can't have both though.

I would argue though, that Vectric products are much faster and easier to generate code for simple 2D work, provided that your drawing skills are up to par.
But Fusion iss far more powerful, and the current price (free) is much better.

Well it will take time to get your tool library setup in Fusion as well as the learning curve, but once that time is invested, it is probably faster with Fusion.
Save your CAM templates and all you change then are just what actual geometry the operation will work on. Takes seconds really. Incredibly fast especially if it is pretty similar to what you have done already and saved as a template.
I haven't used Cut 2D, but do have Cut 3D and it does have some limitations that I was never pleased with. I used it much more often than Vcarve. Fusion solved every one of those limitations and added speed and ease to the process.
You do have to invest the time though. Cut 3D can be picked up quickly.
It's just the more that you use Fusion, the faster everything becomes.

For 2D work it would be hard to beat Vcarve in a scratch built object if it was a level playing field. but the cam output would be better from fusion it's a Hard one if you compare both for 2D work.

I think Sheetcam TNG has them both beat.

I disagree, if your just doing basic 2D profiling.
There isn't much you can do to make simple G1-G2-G3 moves "better".

I think speed might be the only thing you could improve with a single tool. If you had pockets and other features like slots and such, then Fusion would outdo both. It does have 2D adaptive clearing, which is very useful and quite a step up from standard pocketing strategies.

Sorry ger I meant the toolpath is faster. but it still depends on the machine. cutting the same 2D shape out in both, the fusion toolpath is just faster (a minute) and a lot better, but that's the smoothing and tool optimization doing it in fusion. I tested it useing the same model on my big machine.
It was a visible differences on the cornering only the straight x,y and y, x moves no differences.

also vectric is getting better at the cam side of things it's a file and machine thing.
if the machine is well set up and does not have a stupid problem it will be different again your machine there may be no differences at all.

I think VCarve is the way to go if you make lots of unrelated changes such as signs or do a project once and leave it alone. And of course picture carving would be the sole domain of VCarve. But if you build cabinets or subwoofers like I do, the parametric capabilities of Fusion 360 that allows you to change a dimension easily and automatically update the toolpath. To me this is the best feature of Fusion 360 over VCarve but I have both and will continue to pay for VCarve for the foreseeable future. But I can easily see a day where Fusion 360 exceeds VCarve but I don't see that happening anytime soon. For now, VCarve is definitely easier to use and has every feature I'd want other than the parametric capability.
