    Amada LAser 2415 with Fanuc Series 160i-L 438 error on Start up

    Hello everyone..

    We occasionally get the 438 Y axis INV Abnormal current error some mornings on start up.. We can usually clear it up with a repeating of the start up procedure.. Is there something we can look at to see what is causing this issue?

    If it goes away after a few start ups, and never happens again throughout the day, it is most likely the drive.
    Try disconnecting the motor power from the drive before start up, if the alarm happens, replace the drive. If not, then the motor resistance phase to GND could be bad.
