    Re: And it starts! 52" x 100"

    I'm back!
(Probably part time again... been busy with some home renos - mostly done now, I need to update my pics)

BGasser, Yes I did solve the issue with the fit of rack and pinions. A spacing issue of that plastic nut (removed that nut and replaced with a washer)
Very close fitting, but there is clearance through the entire travel on the rail.

My next issue with the machine is the Y axis pinion mechanism. For a 'kit' project, it hasn't been a straight forward project... seems like every time
I get one step in, I'm stepping back to fix/modify parts to make this whole thing go together...
I now have to take the Z axis back plate out to mill some clearance into it.

Got the back plate milled up last night and installed.
I made about 1/16" clearance, hopefully will be enough.
I'll plug away, slowly but surely! I will finish this project!

(Pics of the yard... slowly turning green again!)

Well, last night I made good progress! Mechanically, the machine is finished! WOOT!

Its not tightened up or levelled, still need to tweek a little bit.
No more fabrication required on the base machine (Upgrades always in the works!)
Will be working on the electronics over the next little while.

    Starting on the electronics now.
I managed to pick up this electrical box for a super deal. 11"x13"x8"
Playing with different layouts, but I think I'm going to put the PSU(s) on the bottom
of the plate, and the drivers and U300ETH-UB1 on the top side.
I will have a 120mm fan with filter on the top blowing out, and a heppa filter on the bottom.
All the connections (GX12-2 and GX12-4 plugs) will be on top next to the fan.
Thoughts? Issues I might run into?

P.S. also cut the grass for the first time in over a year! Feels good!

I got the motors all wired up with GX12-4 connectors last night.
I also figured out the control box setup.
I have two PSUs, the 48v for the motors, and 24v for the limits.
The PSUs will be mounted underneath the aluminum plate.
The drivers and the U300ETH-UB1 on top.
I also got a two DC step down converts to reduce to 12v and 5v for accessories.
The 120mm fan is also installed on the top of the box. Still wait for the intake filter to arrive.
