And it starts! 52" x 100"
I origionally posted this over on the Kronos forums.
I'm making this thread more for my own amusement, and a time capsule for this build.
And of course for questions that more than likely will arise with the build.
I started in CNC as a personal interest back in about 2004. Discovered CNCZone, and got hooked.
It took a few years, but I finally managed to scrape the time and resources to build a 24"x30" machine. (that build in the the link below)
I introduced a friend to the idea of CNC, and he too got hooked. He bought the plans for the KRMx02 in about 2008 and soon after bought the 80x20 for the base of the machine. Years went by, and every time I ran into him, I would would ask how the build was going... same answer... slow. Fast forward to 2015, and I once again asked and got the same answer... I jokingly said I would finish the build for him... he said, OK. I kinda laughed a little, but about 2 weeks later, I had this in my garage!
Well, I have no idea how long this is going to take me to finish up, its going to be a weekend project, and as you can see, I have ALOTT of shop cleanup and organizing to do.
My shop is only 10' x 24' so space is going to be tight. So I'm googling idea for benches, and have come up with this one, but will be modifying it to allow for more floor space.
So in the next couple weeks, I'll be clearing out the one end of the shop getting ready for the table build.
I'll post back periodically with updates as I progress.
Oh, I have ordered the parts kit from CNC Router Parts. I upgraded the rack and pinion to the Pro version, and skipped the electronics.
I ordered some 570oz/in 5A 3/8" steppers, some 5056 DSP drivers a C11GS BOB and an Ethernet Smooth Stepper, and I'll be using a NUC for the CPU.
Cheers!
Chris
