I found a second hand turret lathe a Lidköping Cr-2 (980 kg) quite inexpensive. I read up on turrets and noted that there are many limitations. No angleslide, no threadcutting more complex setup. But if you would want to retrofit cnc control onto the lathe would you prefere a turrent or an engine lathe? Are there a component in the lathe cnc control that keeps track on the number of revolutions and current angle of the workpiece, which would make it possible to do 'geared-leadscrew' independent thread cutting for example?
