Question Help with Extract Machinable Features

Hi, I'm new to Solidworks CAM. I'm trying to machine two instances of the same part in an aluminum sheet.
The part is flat and only has features that go through (can be machined from a single side on a 3 axis CNC using pockets and perimeter).

When I create an assembly with two instances of the part, if I use a linear pattern I have no problem extracting machinable features. However, if one of the instances is flipped over (or mirrored), the "Extract Machinable Features" only recognizes features on one of the parts. What am I missing?

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Edit: I am reading that Solidworks CAM is more like CAMWorks than SolidCAM. Apologies if this post is in the wrong forum section.
