G540 - green light and holding torque but no movement

i decided to replace my hobbycnc controller with a G540 (no issues with the hobbycnc board, just wanted to try something different) and i got everything wired up and have a green light and have holding torque on my motor, but when i jog in Mach3, i get no movement. I haven't installed the G540 XML, but i changed the pins in the ports and pins section manually (i changed step and direction pin from 2 and 3 to 3 and 2 or vice versa and changed to active high, but other than that, the pin setup is similar between the hobbycnc and G540 boards). i was trying to not install the XML file because i didn't want to loose all my settings for my hobbyCNC board, which can still be hooked up.

any ideas or things to check for why i have holding torque but no movement?

Disable the charge pump on the G540.

You wouldn't lose your settings for the hobbycnc board if you used the g540.xml. You would just have the choice when starting mach3 of which profile you wanted to load.
