    G540 switched mode power supply

i bought a 48V power supply off amazon (48V, 350W, 8A) to run my G540 with 3 stepper motors. i read some information from Gecko that they like unregulated power supplies because they absorb voltage sent back from the motors during rapid deceleration. do i need to worry about this with my switch mode power supply? if i put a large capacitor in parallel with it, would that help? I also read where Gecko had tested some cheaper power supplies and they were causing the G540 to pop because they would go to to high a voltage. is there anything i can proactively do to make sure that doesn't happen?

Just hook them up. The switching power supply will work fine.

Not all switch mode power supplies are the equal
Success or failure will depend on what brand of power supply you have

if its a genuine Meanwell power supply for instance , I expect it will work

a cheap copy is more likely to output bursts of voltage over the intended 48V
and cause the G540 to malfunction and possibly damage one or more of the G250 stepperdrivers
( if I remember correctly a resistor and 70V zenner diode is connected across the supply to give visual indication the driver has been subjected to more than 70V !!!! )
