F-Engrave 1.58 - Question on tool path and lifting

I have drawn a gear in black with white background and saved as bmp in 1000 dpi. F-engrave will nicely trace the gear, but some of the tool paths seem to go through the gear or teeth and there is a lot of tool lifting on simple arcs.

Are there some settings I could fiddle with to produce a cleaner tool path?

    I attached the g-code

Re: F-Engrave 1.58 - Question on tool path and lifting

OK, I tried using v1.62 and am seeing the same things. I get more tool lifting on a path when I set shorter sub-step lengths. I tried increasing number of pixels (1k to 2k square). I tried a simpler shape, like a circle and I still see some tool lifting, which I do not recall seeing before. Also, sometimes the tool does not lift when it goes from one path to the next - it looks like a few places where the tool moves across the part at depth to a new path.

This is odd because when tracing and in F-Engrave, the tool path looks perfect, but there are additional paths on inspecting the code.

I was just reviewing my other post here and I mentioned the same kind of problem there, and I thought it might by my g-code viewer, Jviewer not showing the correct paths. This is the central hub where the 4 spokes come together and there is a hole in the center.
