    how many proximity sensors?

    Hi.

Try as I might I can only locate three proximity sensors.

From my limited experience and 'reading' i believed there should be six.

    they are Omron TL-Q5MC1 - Z

I suppose it's possible that other types of switches are deployed and i don't recognise them - i'll keep looking -

    but to pose a question

do all machines use six sensors?

Is it possible and./or probable to use three each with a programmed offset for the distant limit?

Now I can't just ask the supplier because I have been forced to obtain a court order defining repairs and replacements to be carried out what was sold as a new machine.
    Just so you know...

    Thanks,
    Rob.

No, all machines don't have 6 sensors. There are a few possibilities:

It is possible to have a single sensor on an axis with multiple targets. This way a single sensor can detect both end of travel. This would only require 3 sensors, one for each axis.

Another possibility is that only one sensor is used on each axis to define one end of each axis' travel. Once the machine is "Homed", the software knows where that end is and from there the software can be set up to prevent the machine from travelling into the other end of the travel because it knows how much travel each axis has. This is referred to as software or soft limits. This would also require only one sensor on each axis.
