    great information and ideas I found here.
    For plasma CNC ( stepper motor 1.8° with planetary gearbox 3:1 + micro stepping probably 10x) what you recommend me to use, rack and pinion module 1 or 1.5 ?! And what is the best (ideal) pinion diameter (number of teeth for the pinion ) ?!
    What is the advantage of helical rack ?!

    Assadi - Plasma is a different machine with different requirements. Anything I could tell you would be just a guess on my part. With that said if I were building one I would use regular straight rack and not helical, or even a good belt drive system. You want speed more than rigidity (to a point). And use good shielded cable on all your wires. There's lots of electrical noise on a plasma machine.

    What is the advantage of helical rack ?!
    Helical is quieter, and can carry higher loads.

    Number of teeth depends on the motor and drive, gear reduction, and how fast you want to go.

    In the linked thread, post #110 shows the correct diagram. I pasted it below. Dont use the dashed line that shows a connection to X210. Use a 1-3k-ohm, 1/2watt resistor connected as shown at the VFD. According to Weerasak at CNCroom, the resistor pulls up the signal to positive value that can be read by the VFD. Its been working great for me. The Jumper wire on the VFD between terminals PLC and P24 is not used and has to be removed.

    If I start the spindle, I cannot adjust the spindle speed! The VFD receives directly the max value and goes to 400Hz!

    I'd check your parameters in your VFD. Make sure your speed command source is set correctly. Also check your Step and direction spindle settings in UCCNC. I'm not at home at the moment so I can't refer to my settings but I'm certain I listed them here in my build log.

    I had my VFD/spindle already running with the analog input (0-10V).
    So I changed only the parameter A001 to 6 (pulse train).
    Is that probably not enough?

    Anyway long story short, after a little experimentation, I set the steps per rotation up to 64 and the acceleration up to 10000. Then it worked great. I dont know why I had to set the acceleration so high. Anyway, its not on a machine yet but on the bench I'm pretty happy with how its working.
    Currently I'm also setting up my VFD and the UCCNC SW. You can adjust the input frquency for the Hitachi WJ200 VFD with the parameter P055 (=> 32 kHz), but where do can adjust the output frequency from the UC300ETH board (from where do you know that number)?

    I have still an off-set between the selected rpm and the real rpm at the spindle: S24000 => 19000 1/min ???

    DIAY - The MB2 itself just relays the output frequency UCCNC sends it. The output frequency is set by the "Steps per Revolution" setting in UCCNC on the Spindle set up tab. I think the problem is a setting. Try cutting your steps per revolution in half (32) and see if then it runs at a slower speed. If it does, then its likely just a setting that needs adjusting. If there is no change, then I would check your settings and make sure that your VFD is set to accept speed control from the EA pin. I'll double check my settings but it will be later today before I can. Also, instead of using the slider to adjust spindle RPM, try directly entering a value in the MDI field or the RPM percentage field underneath the slider.

    If you are controlling the spindle with step/direction, wouldn't that be the steps/rev value?

    Not sure why you just don't use the UB1's 0-10V, which is very simple to setup.

    Hi 1Jumper10, just thought I would comment on your incredible build and journey, it looks fantastic already and am sure i will be even better when it's finally completed. I have spent a good part of the day reading quite a bit of this thread, and have learned a few things already. Thanks for letting me look in on your work.
    I especially liked the main structure and the way you filled in the box section with "high density polyurethane foam" and also the sand. I was thinking that filling box section with something to dampen vibration may work (and be a lot cheaper) and you just confirmed that it actually might. I also enjoyed the talk about the Clearpath motors and Steppers, although I'm still learning about all that.

    Thanks Krispee. It's working fantastic. Here's a pic of a project I'm working on. In the pic it had been running for 2 hrs with about another hour to go with no issues. The software I used to generate the toolpaths is inefficient as the file is gigantic but there is a lot of detail in it.
