New Machine build for PCB Drilling and Milling.

Me and my friend need to build a PCB Drilling and Milling machine.
Bed Size 400x600mm with double spindle in future.
For spindle we will be using ATC Spindle weight around 1.5kg

We need to have high speed as in commercial machines.
What I have thought of the parts is using

    2025 Ball screw
20mm highwin linear rails for all axis.
Step Servo Motors from leadshine.(To save cost )
The machine will be fixed gantry.

I need your help in machine design and selection of controller and parts. Suggestions from you all will be appreciated.

    Thanks

The machine will be fixed gantry.
Fixed gantry designs are similar in most aspect and difference is depend on both what you need to do and how much you want to spend. But in this case I think it’s better to go with moving gantry (fixed bed) because cutting PCB do not need that much force and cutting depth is not that much and it mostly need to scratch PCB instead of cutting it. Steppers are good for such machine and will be enough.

It’s good to see some of other people designs and if you happy whit that then go and build. For PCB mill and drill most of machine can do it well (and off curse in this case accuracy is superior to power)

    Thanks Malek,

Since this machine will be used to produce commercial pcb, I do not want to take the risk of losing steps. I want it to be fixed gantry because I may add additional Spindle in the future and with two spindles I think it will be difficult to move the spindles in x and y direction at high speed.

I would like to know the implication of High Pitch lead screw, and what to take care of.

As requested in my earlier post can anyone let me know about any standalone controller for the router.

    Thanks
