I have an older Fanuc 3T control on a Hitachi Seiki lathe. We are using Mastercam to talk to it.
Im running into problems with performing tool changes. On this machine issuing a T0101 from a T0100 moves the turret by the values entered in the Tool offsets for this tool.
This poses a problem for me.
If I home the machine without offsets enabled then issue a tool with offsets enabled, the machine alarms out, because it has tried to move beyond the home position.
I noticed on another thread similar to this one (titled Tool Offsets) that there may be a parameter in the machine for changing the indicated position rather than moving the turret when tool offsets are toggled. Is this a better way to have tool offsets operate? Anyone know if this is possible to change on a 3T?
Also, there was the mention of 9000 value program numbers set up by the machine builders. My control does not have any of these. Looks like they may have been erased. Any idea what they should be if any.
Does this machine program with G50 Tool Positioning for every tool.
Here is an Example of a Fanuc 6T on an old Ikegai FX25N 1984.
If you look at the tool calls they are "T0100" then the G50 X(Relative Position)Z(Relative Position) which is the distance from Home to the Work Piece X and Z.
Next you will see a Rapid to X Z and then T0101 which calls the Tool with the Offset.
If your calling T0101 at the Home position the Machine will Over-Travel.
