Hello guys,
I come here just share my history.

Couple months ago I bought a VFD 1.5kW Huanyang HY01D523B which is supposed to be connected to 1 phase 220V power supply, as described correctly on manual connect phase and neutral to RS connector. (But sadly I thinked since they have the RST connectors I may connect to 3 phases power supply)
And it worked!!!! 15 consecutive seconds, how smart I am??!!!!
WRONG!!! The capacitors of 400V 470µF just blew up, acid went everywhere, and the VFD gives some error about nor enough power to activate the spindle.

So, to avoid that someone make the same error as me, that's my story.

What I suspect happened, although you have what looks like a single phase rectifier, and normally this would not be an issue on 3ph, but if the 3rd phase connection was somehow connected to the DC bus or was able to make a connection somehow?
It might account for it.
Was it 220 3ph?

Hello, it was connect to 400v 3phases.
The rectifier appear to be connected to all phases, but the peak voltage was higher than cappacitors stand for.

It didn't damage anything more than the capacitors.

i am impressed that it survived, though it looks like the same product series is also able to handle 380 volts, so its possible the only difference between the two is the capacitors and the flyback converter that supplies the brains with various voltages.

400vac would generate about 560 volts dc on those capacitors, which would explain why they blew up.

I am concerned that they are only 470uF. a 3 hp teco drive (equivalent to a 2KW vfd) i repaired used 2, 1000uF capacitors.

I used the same capacity that was installed before the damage.
I'm using the VFD with a 0.8kW spindle,it is working fine but i didn't make many tests.
