power feed for sherline 4100 (metric)

i got a sherline 4100 from a friend and the only problem is that it's motor was changed to a sewing machine AC motor which is very fast and i need the lathe for coil winding as well so i must have a good speed control which is rather complicated with this motor. i thought about getting a new motor for it but i have no idea where to get it as these machines are not sold in israel. also what should i do so i can controll the speed down to very slow speeds?
