    SIEG C6 Retrofit [Ongoing]

Initially, I wanted to build an EG lathe from scratch. The drawing of the bed was finished, all parts was almost machined/gathered. Then, one day Tkamsker wrote his concerns about EG on a big machine, then I changed my mind and turned this way. Thanks @Tkamsker.

I purchased this used SIEG C6 for a very low price. The machine had too many parts missing, like change gears, chuck jaws, chuck key, motor mounting parts, chip guard and chip base BUT the machine has a very low running time. It is almost new so, as I'm CNC converting it the missing parts are not important to finish the project.

    Here are some random photos.

The housing of the X axis ball nut is finished. I made it off tool steel.

The threads inside the part is M20x1 and the threads on the top (for mounting the part) is M8x0.75.

Just received the custom transformer for Z axis stepper.

    400va, 220vAC input, 60vAC output

    Nicely made.

This is the first time I cut a key way with my lathe. It turned out good.

Just received the 5v and 12v PSUs. 5v is for C11GS and C3, 12v is for the cooling fans.

The Z axis is almost done. I just need to make some little work to get it finished.

I cut a taper bush on my other lathe, for the big pulley but it isn't finished. The holes needs to be drilled and I'll cut a horizontal line. That's all.

I bought a 2.2kw 3ph motor for the spindle. I'll use a 4kw Huanyang VFD to drive this motor.

The stock motor was 71 framed 550w. New motor is 90 frames and 2.2kw. I made an adapter for it.

I have also made a pulley with 8mm keyway.

    850mm belt fits very well.

Gear ratio is 1:2 so max spindle speed will be 150 RPM.

I hope you intended to say 1500?

You're doing a great job, I can't wait to it see it making parts!
