Alternatives to "Solar flux" stainless welding flux?

I'm trying to weld thin gage stainless and it's a more feasible option to use a flux rather than to purge. I'd like to know if there's any cheaper fluxes out there than solar flux. Perhaps a flux intended for brazing/welding? I can't find the temp. range for solar flux so if anyone knows that info, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

are you trying to gas weld s/s?

In my experience s/s does't like heat, if you gas weld it I'm quit sure you will not like what happens.

If you can tig weld it that will work much better for you, I allways use argon.

    Hope this helps

I believe there is a silver solder and flux you can use but i cant for the life of me remember there grades and names but I can remember silver soldering carbide strips on pump blades years ago and it was quite successful. If you feather a neautral flame on your oxy you might find reasonable results without any flux at all with that 1mm thick sheet.Regards greg b
