    new HAAS St-15 LOUD!?

We just received our second Haas lathe, we have a 1 year old ST-30, and we just received a ST-15.
I know they have different motors and all but the ST-15 is like a jet engine or air turbine, extremely loud high pitch, even with ear protection its too loud.
Can anyone confirm this as being standard or somethings wrong?

I watched a couple videos online and most seemed far more quiet. but I did see a couple that sounded similar.

I am 60 feet away with custom Silicone ear plugs in and I cant stand this thing, if this is correct, I will have to wear shooting ear protection just to work here.

We have a indoor firing range that's more quiet, haha.

Found it, Haas likes the belt on a new machine a little too tight, probably accounting for it breaking in.

Well, It is a Haas machine, they are not know for quality or longevity. What did the service / applications engineer say when he installed it? Did he/she say that was normal, or, let me guess, they don't do installations?
