    Wire Stripper Tool

It’s not that I strip wires every day but I have this tool which does a decent job stripping wires from about 18-22 AWG however my problem is stripping the exterior of a cable.

Don’t know terminology but say I have a cable with 6 conductors inside. My tool can strip each of the 6 conductors but how about stripping the cable without cutting the conductors?

Is there a tool which does both or I need one for the conductors and one for the cable?

    Thanks
    Nicolas

Depending on the diameter of the cable 'jacket' that you wish to strip, a cheap tool like this can work:

    Attachment 488008

There is a razor edge embedded in the main plastic bar, below the smaller bar with 'ridges'. The smaller bar is 'sprung' by its plastic hinge, so you push a cable under one of the ridges and rotate the cable.

I have a couple that came as freebies with a Cat6 (ethernet cable) related purchase. You can see more with a "ethernet cable stripper" search.
