Thanks Stef, I was wondering if you had designed them around your intended use ( or safety factor ). Keep up the posts, really enjoy them!

Yesterday i decided to upload my 3d model of the VMC to Grabcad, So maybe one day someone can get some inspiration from my build.
It can be downloaded on https://grabcad.com/library/epoxy-gr...cal-cnc-mill-1

Also made some new progress on the engine block build:

Nice. Why the billet crankcase for the Zundap? Original no longer available, or some serious modding?

    Stef, you create amazing things.

This thread contains a lot of value, especially when you read it from the beginning and understand how you went through all this.
What is your next project? In one of the posts, you've mentioned a trunnion table.

@ rotarySMP tnx, yes its because they don't make it anymore. But mostly just because it can XD For now there are no serious mods on the model. My main idea was to make it a Hybride engine. Patrol and electric combined.

@ edviukas Also thanks, Next project well is should definitely finish the enclosure... and make a floodcoolant work. Im currently looking more in to a 4th axis then a full 5 axis trunnion to be honest.

Btw i have made a part2 of the machining of the eninge:

That might be the nicest machine work I have seen here.

    Great video.

@stef110 I've been working on a similar project for quite a while now. If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would change? Are there anything you are particular happy about? Any surprises? I'm trying to see if there is anything i've missed or should reconsider before i move from CAD to the real world...

Awesome work you have done! I (and my wife!) partly blame you for my project ;-)

    @ AutomatedIngen
All those side screws are there for mounting the enclosure there are probably more bolts in there then necessary but who cares.
I get your idea about the head made from 2 pieces but i like to make mine out off one single piece i think.
I would like to see your head design to get some inspiration
For the vibration i just hired a concrete vibrating needle and putted it in the EG.

steff110 can you share more details about the thread inserts?

Which parts did you used? I realized that besides the nut, washer and screw there are other parts

Thanks maxspongebob! I saw and opened the 3D project , but the insert/plug is just one body, and I didn't understood very well.

Maybe you can help me with that.

He used this nut (example link below) with a screw and washer, right?
    https://www.amazon.com/Coupling-Stra.../dp/B07Q2SYQWB

But what is it at the end of the nut? and how was that part fixed to the nut? this is my question

I think that is a short piece of tube so that the embedded nut with the threads is buried deeper into the EG. The long nut is held in the casting by the washer and bolt.

    Maybe...
I've looked at these images about 100 times lol

sometimes it looks like he machined the tip of the long nuts, maybe to make it less apparent on the granite epoxy surface
look where I made the red circle in the image, the long nut length is less than the standard size

Yes i turned down the end with the lathe. Only to just make it look more nice on the casting. It has no other value then that.

In the model i made all these small nuts bolts and washers to one solid part to make the model easier.

I decided to build a 5th axis trunnion for the mill. Something i already wanted to build for a long time. I decided to make a video serie about it on youtube here is part 1 with a explanation and the making of the first part.

Beautiful work Stef. The technique you used to align the column, where you use bolts and threaded inserts interchangeably, does it have a name? Where did you read about it?
