    Milling vise or vaccume table

    Assuming I can only buy one of the above, what would be more useful assuming I plan to mill mostly aluminium for my hobby projects.

    Mostly aluminum what? Bar stock, thin sheet, thick plates, aluminum extrusions, round stock.....

    Horses for courses.

    Vacuum table isn't going to help much with bar or round stock, or extrusions which don't have significant surface area. You're going to want the vise or some other clamping system for those. The vac table is great for thin sheet though, without it you're looking at gluing the stock down to a thicker spoilboard which you can then clamp down.

    Why not buy the vice and make a vacuum table, you really need both. Pretty easy to make vacuum tables. Double sided tape works well for some things also.
