    newbie questions

    we are looking to buy a stinger 2 to make mostly hardwood parts. was looking to buy an atc, but see camaster seems to only offer a fast tc. are there other options? 3rd party??

    You can always buy an ATC spindle, and add it yourself, but you'll be on your own with getting the software setup to accommodate it.
    Otherwise, it looks like you'd need to step up to the Panther.
    I would think that the ATC option would add at least $5K to the cost.

    A chinese 5HP ATC spindle is $5000 for the spindle only.

    An HSD spindle would cost more. Add the cost of a carousel toolchanger, full integration, and factory support, and $11,500 isn't really all that much.
    ATC Spindles are not cheap.
    You can get a 7HP water cooled ATC spindle direct from China and do the integration yourself for $3500

    By the time you add a VFD, build a tool rack, and add toolholders, you'll be over $5000, and probably have a LOT of time invested. And no factory support, or warranty on the spindle.

    Sorry... I should have mentioned that I was quoted for the Panther as an option.
    Im sure it does add on if going the other way you mention.
